Michael Smith focuses his practice on commercial litigation, with emphasis on the defense of electronics, aerospace, and shipbuilding manufacturers and distributors in product liability and toxic tort actions.
Mr. Smith handles all aspects of litigation, including the examination and defense of lay and expert witnesses, law and motion practice, and trial preparation. Additionally, Mr. Smith has advised Fortune 50 clients in matters involving UCC, environmental compliance, premises liability, regulatory takings, corporate governance, and domestic and international regulation of medical professionals.
Mr. Smith earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California, Berkeley, magna cum laude, where he drafted and, later published, his award-winning honors thesis in the leading journal of its field. Before college, Mr. Smith served on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier in the U.S. Navy.
In 2003, Mr. Smith received his Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as an Executive Articles Editor for the Georgetown Journal of International Law and distinguished himself in several advanced legal writing courses and seminars. Before joining Glazier Yee, Mr. Smith worked as a litigator for multi-national law firms in Washington, D.C. and California.
