Helena Wallentin’s global practice is headquartered at Glazier Yee’s Los Angeles office. Ms. Wallentin serves as local counsel in California and across the United States for multiple U.S. and international clients. She focuses on the legal aspects of business and dispute resolution in and between the U.S. and the EU, especially the Nordic countries. She facilitates Nordic companies’ business and legal interactions in the U.S. and U.S. companies’ business and legal interests in the Nordic markets. Ms. Wallentin serves as an international liaison, improving communication across the continents, cultures and legal systems.
Ms. Wallentin has extensive experience litigating cases in California State and Federal Courts involving a wide variety of subject matters from environmental and toxic tort to premises liability and contract disputes. She also has in-depth experience as counsel in international arbitration proceedings, including under the Swedish, Finnish, English and California Arbitration Acts, and under the arbitration rules of institutions such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Arbitration Institute of the Finnish Chamber of Commerce, and the American Arbitration Association (AAA). Ms. Wallentin has been accepted to the distinguished panel of arbitrators of the International Center for Dispute Resolution (ICDR).
Ms. Wallentin is a member of the Los Angeles Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute (former DRI country chair for Finland), the International Bar Association (IBA), the Swedish Arbitration Association (SAA) and the Portuguese Arbitration Association (APA).
Ms. Wallentin speaks Swedish and is conversant in Portuguese. She has lived many years in and understands the business and dispute resolution systems and cultures in the U.S., Europe and Asia. She has lectured on topics ranging from cultural differences and their impact on business and communications to contract law and arbitrations in the U.S., Europe and China. With over a decade of experience litigating cases in the U.S. and another decade of of experience handling alternative dispute resolution proceedings around the world, Ms. Wallentin possesses unique knowledge and an in-depth understanding of common law, civil law, and international disputes and cross-border transactions.
